President's Message

I’m very pleased to share that the relationship between Noosa Pickleball Club and Council has never been stronger. Recently, at the request of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, members of our Management Committee met with key Council representatives to discuss future opportunities for our Club and the broader community.

The meeting was extremely positive and productive, with Council outlining several potential shared facility opportunities for the Committee to consider moving forward. While these discussions are still in the early stages, it is incredibly encouraging to see such strong engagement and support from Council.

As a Club, we should all feel proud of the positive and respectful relationship we have worked hard to build over time. It is wonderful to see Council recognising and working alongside a passionate, volunteer-led community organisation such as Noosa Pickleball Club.

This progress reflects the energy, spirit and support of our entire membership. Thank you for your ongoing encouragement, positivity and contribution to making our Club such a strong and valued part of the Noosa community.

There are exciting times ahead.

  Our Volunteers Are Simply Amazing!

πŸ™ŒΒ Our Volunteers Are the Heart of Our Club!

The month of May saw a national celebration of volunteers in Australia, giving us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the incredible people who help make Noosa Pickleball Club such a welcoming, vibrant and successful community.

Behind every league match, club session, tournament, fundraiser and social event is a team of volunteers generously giving their time, energy and expertise. Quite simply, our Club would not exist without you.

A special shout out to Sharon and Keith Bing who have worked tirelessly for pickleball in Noosa and are largely responsible for skilling up new members. Also, to Kylie Cole and Lyn Muir, whose dedication keeps our League competition running week after week, and to Lynne Nisbet and Kerryn Browne for early 2026 support. We thank our amazing session hosts who help coordinate more than 20 sessions each week across the Olive Donaldson Pavilion, Noosaville State School and Noosa Leisure Centre. Your friendly faces are often the first welcome members receive when they arrive to play. πŸ˜ŠπŸ“

We were also proud to have a fantastic team of volunteers represent the Club at the Runaway Noosa Marathon. A huge thank you to Ron & Lou Gatliff, Tanya Behan, Becky Frankham, Desley Arnold, Lorraine James, Jodi Climo-Cancelot, Nick Hooper, Rebecca Scene, Meg Agostino, Liz Davies, Kerryn Browne, Leandra Pretorius, Robin Soulsby, Jeff Docker and Suzi Cottrell. Your enthusiasm and hard work helped raise valuable funds for the Club while showcasing the wonderful spirit of our pickleball community. πŸŽ‰

And let's hear it for our raffle ticket-selling superstars at the Noosa Sports Club Community Raffles! 🎟️ While selling raffle tickets may not come with a medal ceremony, your efforts help generate important funds that support Club activities, equipment and future initiatives. Thank you to Ron Gatliff, Abi & Mick Gatling, Meg & Mario Agostino, Becky Frankham, Desley Arnold, Ann McKenna, along with all the members who gave up their evening to support the Club.

Every court set up, every score recorded, every player welcomed, every raffle ticket sold and every hour volunteered helps make Noosa Pickleball Club the thriving community it is today.

πŸ’™ Thank you for helping make Noosa Pickleball Club a place where people come not only to play pickleball, but to belong.

  New session at NSS

πŸ“ New Advanced Intermediate Session Coming to Noosaville State School!

Great news for our Advanced Intermediate players! Due to strong demand, we're introducing a new Advanced Intermediate session at Noosaville State School, commencing Sunday 21 June.

πŸ•– When: Sundays, 7:00am – 9:00am
πŸ“ Where: Noosaville State School, 75 Beckman Rd, Noosaville

This session is designed for players looking for faster-paced games, more strategic play and the opportunity to challenge themselves against others at a similar level.

To make the best use of our available court time and respond to member demand, the current Sunday 11:00am – 1:00pm session will be discontinued from 21 June due to low attendance numbers. We regularly review session participation to ensure we are providing playing opportunities that best meet the needs of our members.

Places in the new Advanced Intermediate session are limited, so be sure to secure your spot.

πŸ‘‰ Jump onto PicklePlanner and register today!

We look forward to seeing you on court for another fantastic playing opportunity at Noosa Pickleball Club. πŸ’™πŸ˜Š

🀝 Support Local. Support Our Supporters. Strengthen Our Community. πŸ“πŸ’™

One of the things that makes Noosa Pickleball Club so special is the incredible support we receive from local businesses and community partners. Our Monster May Raffle was a huge success, thanks to the generosity of businesses and individuals who donated prizes and helped us raise valuable funds for the Club.

This month we'd like to give a special shout out to some of our wonderful supporters:

πŸ“ Engage Paddles
πŸ“Έ Keith Bing Photography
πŸ“ Six Zero Paddles
πŸ₯• Tewantin Market Garden
β˜• The Bean Theory Cafe
🍽️ Royal Mail Hotel
πŸŽ‰ Noosa RSL
πŸ’§ Rehydraid

These businesses have chosen to invest in our Club, our members and our community. Their generosity helps us continue to grow, improve member experiences and create opportunities both on and off the court.

The best way we can say thank you is by supporting them in return. Next time you're looking for a paddle, a coffee, fresh produce, a meal out, hydration products or local services, please consider supporting the businesses that support Noosa Pickleball Club. 😊

Together, we're building something much bigger than a sporting clubβ€”we're strengthening connections across our entire community.

πŸ’™ Thank you to all of our sponsors, donors and community supporters. We couldn't do it without you!

Thank you Queensland Pickleball for our new defibrillator

❀️ A Big Thank You to Queensland Pickleball

Earlier this year, Noosa Pickleball Club received a $1,000 grant from Queensland Pickleball to purchase a defibrillator for our hosted sessions at Noosaville State School.

As our Club continues to grow, so does our commitment to providing a safe environment for our members, volunteers and visitors. This life-saving piece of equipment will provide an added layer of safety and peace of mind for everyone who enjoys playing at our sessions.

We are incredibly grateful to Queensland Pickleball for their support of grassroots clubs and their investment in the health, wellbeing and safety of pickleball players across Queensland.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe, active and thriving. πŸ“πŸ’™

How Many Can You Tick Off? βœ…

Most pickleball players measure improvement by wins and losses. But some of the biggest signs you're getting better don't show up on the scoreboardβ€”they show up in the way you think, move and make decisions on the court.

Take a look at the list below and see how many you can tick off. The more boxes you can confidently check, the more your game is developing!

βœ… You stop rushing every shot.
βœ… You control the pace of rallies.
βœ… You stay out of the kitchen at the right time.
βœ… You dink with patience, not panic.
βœ… You place shots instead of simply hitting hard.
βœ… You anticipate your opponent's moves.
βœ… You communicate better in doubles.
βœ… You reduce unforced errors.
βœ… You reset instead of forcing winners.
βœ… You stay consistent under pressure.
βœ… You let the ball bounce when needed.
βœ… You move with purpose, not randomly.
βœ… You master soft shots and touch.
βœ… You don't chase every ball unnecessarily.
βœ… You stay calm after mistakes.
βœ… You understand positioning on the court.
βœ… You focus more on strategy than power.
βœ… You win points through patience.
βœ… You enjoy longer rallies.
βœ… You play smarter, not harder.

Remember, pickleball is a game of skill, strategy and patience. The players who improve the most aren't always the hardest hittersβ€”they're the players who keep learning, keep practising and keep making better decisions.

So, how many did you tick off? πŸ€”

Happy Pickling! πŸ˜ŠπŸ“

πŸ’ͺ Stay Strong, Stay Active, Stay on the Court! πŸ“

Did you know that one of the best ways to improve your pickleball and reduce your risk of injury is to incorporate regular strength, balance and mobility exercises into your weekly routine?

For players over 60, maintaining muscle strength, balance, coordination and flexibility becomes increasingly importantβ€”not only for improving performance on the court but also for supporting overall health, independence and confidence in everyday life.

The exercise program we've included covers all the key areas pickleball players need:

πŸƒ Warm-Up Routine – Prepare your body for movement and reduce injury risk.
πŸ’ͺ Strength Exercises – Build the muscle strength needed for stability, power and endurance.
πŸ‘Ÿ Agility and Footwork Drills – Improve movement, balance and court coverage.
πŸ”„ Core and Rotational Work – Enhance control, coordination and shot production.
🧘 Cool Down and Mobility – Support recovery, flexibility and long-term joint health.

Sample Weekly Plan

πŸ“ 3–4 Days: Play Pickleball (with a proper warm-up and cool-down)
πŸ’ͺ 2 Days: Strength and Core Training
🚢 1–2 Days: Light Walking, Rest and Recovery
