Pickleball Australia is proud to announce the launch of Australian Ranking (AR) system in collaboration with our member associations, their affiliates and our partners. In 2024, 27 AR tournaments spanning across each State and Territory will cater for players in Opens, ParaPickleball, Juniors, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+ and 70+ categories and will allow players to accumulate ranking points to their official Australian Ranking.
The first AR tournament of 2024 will be the 2024 WA Pickleball Championships.
Chair of the Pickleball Association of Western Australia, Craig Cobern, commented “The Pickleball Association of Western Australia are delighted to be the hosts of the first official Australian Ranking tournament in Australia”.
“Entries have already exceeded 2023 numbers for this year’s Championships and we look forward to the addition of Australian Ranking points which could mean a few more players make the trip to play in the Western Australian Championships".
Over the next 12 months AR tournaments will enable us to establish Australia’s leading players in each category and Pickleball Australia looks forward to working with our stakeholders to ensure a system which is transparent, fair and ever-improving.
Chair of the Pickleball Australia tournaments committee, Cath Griffin said “The tournaments committee are very much looking forward to working with our stakeholders to roll out the Australian Ranking system”.
“This system is crucial in ensuring we have a system to identify Australia’s leading players and continue to provide competitive opportunities to those who seek them”.
“We understand that 2024 will be a year of learning and listening to our stakeholders to continue to develop and improve the system”.
